GABRIEL PRODUCT WARRANTY

Gabriel Ride Control LLC U.S.A. warrants all products marketed under the Gabriel brand name and stamped with the appropriate brand part no. against defects in material and/or labour and premature loss of damping force for the periods shown below:

3 Years or 60,000km:
from date of retail sale or date of installation, whichever occurs first.

2 Years or 40,000km:
from date of retail sale or date of installation, whichever occurs first.

81000 Guardian
82000 Classic

IMPORTANT

Gabriel warranty is limited stricty to the replacement of the unit. There is no obligation to replace a pair as a result of failure of one unit.

Cost of removal and installation is not included in the Warranty.

WARRANTY CLAIM PROCEDURE

If product failure occurs within the specified Warranty period, it is essential that a Warranty Claim Form is filled by the installer, seller or distributor.

Information on the form must include vehicle owner name and address, vehicle make, model, year and mileage, installer’s name, address and phone no.

Most importantly, it is necessary that a copy of proof of purchase (ie. Original invoice) is attached to the Warranty Claim Form.

Authorisation of Warranty free replacement can be obtained only by phoning the Gabriel HelpLine on 1800 645 609.

WARRANTY EXCLUSIONS

The provisions of the Gabriel Warranty shall not apply to any Gabriel Shock and Strut product which has been:

  1. Fitted on a vehicle for which it was not catalogued or
  2. Fitted on a vehicle utilised for racing or competitive purposes or
  3. Used for any purpose for which it was not designed or
  4. Altered or subjected to misuse, negligence or accident or
  5. Improperly installed.

Damage attributable to abuse, neglect or misapplication is not covered by the Warranty. Specific examples include:

  1. Units damaged by interference between the shock absorber and parts of the suspension due to improper installation or incorrect vehicle application
  2. Vice jaws or wrench marks on piston rod, causing damage to oil seal and oil leak
  3. Bent or twisted off lower studs on Falcon front shock absorbers, caused by incorrect tightening
  4. Standard length shocks used in vehicles with lifted or lowered suspension
  5. Shock absorbers showing damage caused by the vehicle involved in an accident
  6. Cartridges claimed to be noisy due to incorrect tightening down of the body nut or failure to use spacers provided in the kit
  7. Failure to re-fit serviceable bump stop (strut cushions on struts or cartridges)

Australian Consumer Law – Requirement for warranties against defects – 90, (1) (c)

“ Our goods come with guarantees that cannot be excluded under Australian Consumer Law. You are entitled to a replacement or refund for a major failure and compensation for any other reasonably foreseeable loss or damage. You are also entitled to have goods repaired or replaced if the goods fail to be of acceptable quality and the failure does not amount to a major failure.”

Subject to Commonwealth or State Acts or regulations, all other warranties, conditions and liabilities are hereby excluded.
